EC&I Engineer - Defence / Nuclear
Location: Remote / UK (travel to site as required)
Clearance: SC Clearable (UK National)
Duration: 6-12 months
We are supporting a major defence programme seeking an EC&I Engineer to join a long‑term capital equipment procurement and installation project. The role sits within a highly regulated environment and will support the project through pre‑procurement, delivery, installation and commissioning phases.
This position would suit an EC&I Engineer with solid experience in nuclear, defence or other safety‑critical industries, looking to contribute to a complex and technically challenging programme.
Key Responsibilities
- Support EC&I engineering activities during the pre‑procurement phase of a major capital project.
- Assist in the development of EC&I technical specifications, functional requirements and supporting documentation.
- Provide EC&I input into vendor evaluations, technical reviews and equipment selection.
- Work closely with project engineers, safety teams and external suppliers to support design development.
- Support EC&I aspects of installation, integration and commissioning activities as the project progresses.
- Ensure EC&I work complies with relevant nuclear, defence, safety and quality standards.
- Contribute to hazard, safety and design reviews where required.
- Support issue resolution during delivery and site activities.
Required Experience
- Experience working as an EC&I Engineer within nuclear, defence or similarly regulated environments.
- Practical knowledge of EC&I systems associated with capital equipment or plant installations.
- Ability to produce and review technical documentation to a good professional standard.
- Exposure to installation, testing or commissioning activities.
- Understanding of working within safety‑critical and quality‑driven frameworks.
- UK national, eligible to obtain SC clearance.
Desirable Experience
- Previous involvement in pre‑procurement or vendor engagement activities.
- Familiarity with nuclear or defence regulatory expectations.
- Site‑based experience supporting installation or commissioning teams.
