Ecologist - Newcastle

An established and growing environmental consultancy is seeking an Ecologist to join its team in Newcastle. This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic ecologist looking to develop their career within a supportive and technically focused environment. You will be involved in all aspects of project delivery, from field surveys and reporting through to client liaison and project management support.




Key Responsibilities;

  • Undertaking a range of ecological surveys, including habitat and protected species surveys

  • Preparing ecological reports, including Preliminary Ecological Appraisals, Ecological Impact Assessments, and Biodiversity Net Gain assessments

  • Assisting with protected species licence applications and mitigation strategies

  • Supporting project managers in the delivery of ecological projects

  • Liaising with clients, planning authorities, and multidisciplinary project teams

  • Contributing to the planning and coordination of fieldwork programmes

  • Supporting biodiversity enhancement and habitat management recommendations





You will ideally have;

  • Degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related discipline

  • Experience working within ecological consultancy or a similar environment

  • Good knowledge of UK wildlife legislation and planning policy

  • Experience undertaking habitat and protected species surveys

  • Strong report-writing and communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Full UK driving licence

  • Membership of CIEEM or a desire to work towards membership would be advantageous
