Our client, a leading provider of facilities services in the UK, is seeking a Fabric Engineer to support the delivery of high‑quality fabric and building services maintenance across a single site.

Job Overview

This role is focused on delivering planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive fabric works within agreed service level timeframes, ensuring a consistently high standard of service delivery and customer satisfaction.

The successful candidate will come from a facilities management (FM) background and will be comfortable undertaking a wide range of fabric and building services tasks. You will work closely with contractors and client representatives, ensuring all works are completed safely, compliantly and in line with contractual requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out fabric-related PPM and reactive maintenance works within agreed timescales.
  • Undertake general building services maintenance, including exterior works, plumbing, mechanical and carpentry tasks.
  • Complete external grounds maintenance duties as required.
  • Monitor and control contractors on behalf of the client, including issuing Permits to Work.
  • Ensure contractor workmanship meets required standards and specifications.
  • Ensure all equipment operates to specified performance criteria and surrounding areas meet agreed standards.
  • Maintain accurate records and complete all required administrative tasks on time.
  • Ensure full compliance with health & safety requirements, including risk assessments and COSHH.

Person Specification

  • Proven experience working within a facilities management (FM) environment.
  • Willingness and ability to undertake both PPM and reactive maintenance across multiple trades.
  • NVQ / City & Guilds or equivalent qualification in Plumbing.
  • NVQ / City & Guilds or equivalent qualification in HVAC, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline, with plumbing qualifications.
  • Proactive and customer-focused approach to work.
  • Comfortable liaising with clients and contractors in a professional manner.
  • Strong understanding of health & safety regulations and compliance requirements.
