Please note that the Combined Authority will consider requests for part-time working and/or job share. We currently have a vacancy for a Finance Systems & Controls Officer to join our Finance Systems Team.
Come and join a small, highly collaborative Finance Systems Team where your contribution will genuinely make an impact. As Finance Systems & Control Officer, you will have the opportunity to work at the heart of a modern, cloud-based ERP environment, using TechnologyOne CiA modules to support and enhance critical financial operations. You will get to work on a broad and varied workload, from system administration and controls to process improvements and user support, giving you a well-rounded and engaging day-to-day experience.

As Finance Systems & Control Officer, you will have hands-on experience in running and evolving a live finance system, developing new skills while deepening your technical and financial understanding. The Role:
Reporting into the Systems Accountant, your key responsibilities will include:
· Providing a high-quality service to ensure the Finance system continues to meet the Combined Authority objectives.
· Developing a deep understanding of the Combined Authority’s finance processes, financial systems and underlying technology.
· Proactively contributing to the continuous improvement of the Combined Authority’s financial systems and controls.

About You:
· Strong foundation in finance, either through part-qualification, active study, or equivalent practical experience.
· Solid understanding of financial controls, audit principles, risk management, and accounting standards, with clear evidence of applying these in practice to ensure accuracy, compliance, and robust financial governance.
· Recent experience working with financial systems and internal processes, including evidence of improving processes or strengthening controls.
· Demonstrable evidence of successfully delivering responsibilities in a comparable finance role, such as reconciliations, control testing, audit support, system administration - showing reliability, accuracy, and a detail‑orientated mindset.
· A good understanding of Local Authority financial procedures and specific governance measures within public sector finance.
