Learning Resource Coordinator
Location: Rotherham Campus, Rotherham
Salary: £24,930 (£20,519.31 pro-rata) a year + benefits
Vacancy Type: Permanent, Full Time
Closing Date: 29th of June 2026
In 2026, our libraries and study zones are vibrant, tech-enabled hubs designed for modern education. To support our student body during the most critical times of the year, we are seeking an approachable, tech-confident Learning Resource Coordinator to join us on a term-time-only basis as the friendly face of our independent learning spaces.
As the Learning Resource Coordinator, you will serve as the "Frontline Facilitator" and the primary student-facing link within the Digital Innovation & AI department. Reporting directly to the Library and Digital Support Lead, you will provide high-quality, "at-the-point-of-need" assistance within our campus libraries and digital study zones.
Your mission is to dismantle the everyday barriers to learning. You are a true champion for independent study, you won't just hand students the answers, you will coach them on how to find them, building their lifelong digital research skills. While teaching teams focus on classroom delivery, you own the student experience during independent study, ensuring that our massive suite of advanced digital tools and physical collections are fully understood and utilized.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct Learner Support: Provide immediate, friendly assistance to students accessing and utilising both physical library books and digital resources.
- Digital Access Facilitation: Act as the first point of contact for student queries regarding VLE navigation, e-book platforms, and college-wide software logins.
- Assistive Technology Guidance: Help learners access and use assistive digital tools and software, ensuring our spaces remain inclusive and accessible to students with diverse needs.
- Study Skills Coaching: Empower student independence by coaching learners on effective study habits, time management, and digital organisation.
- Literacy & Workshop Support: Assist the Library and Digital Support Lead in delivering information and digital literacy sessions, helping students evaluate sources and use digital tools ethically.
- Resource & Hardware Circulation: Manage the daily check-in and check-out of physical materials and mobile hardware (such as laptops and tablets), ensuring assets are functionally ready for student use.
- Environment Stewardship: Monitor and manage the study zones to ensure they remain clean, productive, and professional spaces conducive to quiet, focused study.
- Digital First Aid & Escalation: Spot when a student is struggling with a technical barrier or a literacy gap, providing immediate support or escalating systemic issues to the Digital Learning Manager.
Key Role Objectives
Empower Student Independence: Measurably increase student confidence in using digital and physical resources autonomously without constant staff intervention.
Maximize Resource Usage: Drive the adoption of e-books and digital platforms through proactive floor-walking and direct student engagement.
Operational Readiness: Maintain a stellar standard of frontline customer service, ensuring every student interaction is positive, professional, and solution-focused.
The Challenges You'll Tackle
The primary challenge of this 2026 role is the sheer volume and diversity of student needs during peak term-time periods. You must be able to switch gears instantly, moving from a physical book lookup to troubleshooting a complex VLE login or explaining the ethical boundaries of an AI research tool. Additionally, you will navigate the balance of keeping the study environment quiet and professional while encouraging collaborative, digital work.
You will…
- We are looking for a patient, calm, and tech-savvy professional who thrives in a fast-paced, student-centric environment.
- Frontline Customer Excellence: Experience working in a customer-facing, library, or educational role, with a natural ability to welcome and engage a diverse group of people.
- Tech Confidence: Comfortable navigating standard digital suites (Microsoft 365, Google Workspace), Virtual Learning Environments (VLE), and basic hardware/mobile devices.
- A Natural Coach: Possess the empathy and communication skills needed to patiently guide students through technical hurdles rather than just solving the issue for them.
- Inclusive Mindset: An understanding of or interest in assistive technologies that support SEND or neurodivergent learners.
We understand that no candidate will perfectly match every qualification or criterion listed. If your experience differs from what we've outlined but you believe you can contribute to this role, we encourage you to apply!
