Learning Support Assistant (LSA) - Secondary School
Location: Doncaster
Contract: Full-Time, Long-Term
Start Date: September 2026
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Doncaster from September 2026. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity for an individual who is passionate about supporting young people to achieve their full potential both academically and personally.

The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff, SEND professionals, and pastoral teams to provide tailored support for students across Key Stages 3 and 4.



Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with a range of learning needs.
  • Assist teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons.
  • Support students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including those with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
  • Help students develop confidence, independence, and positive learning behaviours.
  • Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teaching staff.
  • Adapt learning resources and activities to meet individual student needs.
  • Support students both inside and outside the classroom environment.
  • Promote safeguarding, wellbeing, and positive behaviour throughout the school day.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, parents/carers, and external agencies where required.


Requirements

  • Previous experience working with children or young people in an educational, youth work, care, or support setting.
  • A patient, caring, and positive approach to supporting students.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Understanding of SEND and strategies to support learners with additional needs is desirable.
  • GCSE Grade C/4 or above in English and Mathematics (or equivalent).Relevant qualifications in Education, Childcare, Health & Social Care, or Teaching Assistance are advantageous but not essential.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
