Supporting the introduction and optimisation of advanced manufacturing processes, the Manufacturing Engineer will play a key role in bringing new machining capability into production and ensuring safe, efficient, and repeatable manufacturing operations.
  
This role covers a broad range of activities including CNC process development, equipment commissioning, New Product Introduction, process validation, and continuous improvement. Working within a high-performance manufacturing environment, you will support the industrialisation of new equipment and products while driving improvements in quality, productivity, and manufacturing efficiency.
  
The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for:
  • Supporting the commissioning and industrialisation of new CNC machining and waterjet cutting equipment.
  • Developing and implementing robust manufacturing processes for new and existing products.
  • Creating and maintaining manufacturing documentation including work instructions, standard operating procedures, and process flows.
  • Leading Process FMEAs and risk assessments to ensure safe and capable manufacturing processes.
  • Defining tooling, fixturing, and work holding solutions to optimise machining performance and repeatability.
  • Supporting equipment start-up activities, process validation, and operator training.
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, productivity, cycle time reduction, and waste elimination.
  • Investigating manufacturing issues, conducting root cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions.
  • Supporting New Product Introduction activities to ensure products are manufacturable and production-ready.
  • Collaborating with Quality, Production, Design Engineering, and Supply Chain teams to support successful project delivery.
  • Monitoring process performance and identifying opportunities for automation, efficiency improvements, and cost reduction.
  
The Manufacturing Engineer will have:
  • A Degree, HNC/HND, or equivalent qualification in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • A strong understanding of CNC machining processes, ideally including large-format 3-axis and 5-axis machining centres.
  • Experience supporting machine commissioning, process validation, and production ramp-up activities.
  • Knowledge of Fanuc-controlled machining centres would be highly advantageous.
  • Experience working with aluminium components and precision manufacturing processes.
  • Familiarity with waterjet cutting processes would be beneficial.
  • Experience conducting PFMEA activities and developing manufacturing documentation.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with experience of root cause analysis and continuous improvement methodologies.
