About Hinkley Point C

Hinkley Point C (HPC) is pioneering the future of UK energy as the first new nuclear power station to be built in the country in over 20 years. Featuring two state-of-the-art EPR reactors, HPC will generate 3.26GW of secure, low-carbon electricity for the next 60 years-enough to power around 6 million homes. Beyond delivering vital clean energy, this landmark mega-project is creating thousands of jobs and driving lasting benefits for the UK economy.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced MEH Area Planner to play a pivotal role in this historic project. Accountable to the Area Lead Planner, you will oversee Mechanical, Electrical, and HVAC (MEH) planning throughout the project lifecycle.

Your focus will be on driving productivity, ensuring the absolute accuracy and value of planning outputs, and implementing the broader HPC Planning Strategy. Operating within a digitally enabled, bespoke-benchmark planning environment, you will also manage and control vital supply chain and contract interfaces.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will be expected to drive performance, challenge delivery strategies, and maintain the highest standards of project controls. Your core duties will include:

  • Integrated Planning & Scheduling: Drive a comprehensive planning framework (Levels 1 to 5) that aligns strategic top-down and bottom-up reporting. Produce accurate, complete, and fully logic-linked construction plans that integrate the MEH scope into the wider HPC schedule.

  • Insight & Evidence-Based Decisions: Deliver accurate, concise, and unique project insights utilizing both commercial and technical information to influence project decisions and lead area planning management.

  • Risk & Change Impact Analysis: Hold accountability for the application of the Trend & Change process. Critically analyze how schedule changes and management decisions impact the project's broader risk profile and planning delivery.

  • Stakeholder Communication: Effectively communicate complex issues, technical concepts, and planning data in simple, digestible ways to both technical and non-technical senior audiences.

  • Standards & Security: Ensure strict adherence to project scheduling standards, procedures, and data integrity. Maintain the correct protective marking and security handling of Sensitive Nuclear Information in line with clients policies.

  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate across organizational boundaries to achieve mutually successful outcomes in alignment with HPC values: Humility, Positivity, Respect, Solidarity, and Clarity, within a culture of Trust, Transparency, and Teamwork.

Education, Experience, and Skills

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a Degree (or equivalent) in Engineering, Construction, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.

Essential Knowledge & Experience:

  • Sector Expertise: Proven track record planning Mechanical, Electrical, and HVAC (MEH) works within a complex, highly regulated industry (ideally nuclear or energy) using EPC methods and techniques in a UK context.

  • Digital Infrastructure: Clear understanding and control of the HPC PMO Digital Planning Platforms and their functionalities, alongside a detailed understanding of advanced scheduling methodologies.

  • Commercial & Contractual Awareness: Strong working knowledge of various contract types, with a specific focus on the NEC suite and FIDIC.

  • Cross-Discipline Project Controls: A solid understanding of Earned Value Analysis (EVA), schedule risk analysis techniques, and other Project Controls disciplines (particularly Estimating, Cost, and Risk) including their management software.

Core Skills:

  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

  • Proven ability to synthesize complex data into actionable insights for senior stakeholders.

  • Strong collaborative mindset to work effectively across distinct organizational and supply chain boundaries.
