OPERATIONS DIRECTOR – MODULAR CONSTRUCTION / MMC
Location: East Sussex (between Brighton & Eastbourne)
Salary: Circa £100,000 (flexible for the right candidate) + package + share options
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and driven Operations Director to join a well-funded, forward-thinking modular construction business at a pivotal stage of growth.
With live projects already underway, key leadership appointments in place, and significant financial backing secured, the business is now seeking an Operations Director capable of helping scale the company into a market-leading MMC delivery platform.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the Operations Director will take responsibility for both factory manufacturing operations and construction site delivery activities across the business.
The successful candidate will manage two direct reports:
• Factory Production Manager
• Construction Manager
Candidates from modern methods of construction (MMC), modular manufacturing, offsite construction or main contracting backgrounds will all be considered.
THE ROLE
The Operations Director will take full ownership of operational performance across the business, ensuring alignment between factory production, logistics, site delivery, programme management, health & safety and client satisfaction.
This is a highly visible and client-facing leadership role requiring a commercially aware and operationally strong individual who thrives in ambitious, fast-paced environments.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Operational Leadership
• Lead and coordinate all factory manufacturing and construction site operations
• Ensure seamless integration between factory production schedules and site delivery programmes
• Drive operational efficiency across manufacturing, logistics and installation activities
• Develop scalable systems and processes to support business growth
Factory & Manufacturing Operations
• Oversee factory operations, output, productivity and quality standards
• Improve manufacturing efficiency, reduce waste and optimise workflows
• Implement continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives
• Support operational planning to maximise output and programme reliability
Construction & Site Delivery
• Oversee all site activities, construction teams and subcontractor performance
• Ensure projects are delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the highest quality standards
• Drive programme management and operational coordination across all live projects
• Maintain exceptional health & safety standards across both factory and site environments
Health, Safety & Compliance
• Champion a proactive H&S culture throughout the business
• Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, standards and industry best practices
• Conduct regular operational and site reviews to maintain standards and accountability
Client & Stakeholder Management
• Act as a key operational contact for clients and project stakeholders
• Build strong relationships through transparent communication and delivery excellence
• Support project teams in maintaining exceptional customer experience throughout project delivery
Strategic Growth
• Support the Managing Director in scaling the operational capability of the business
• Contribute to strategic planning, operational forecasting and resource management
• Help develop a high-performance culture capable of supporting rapid business growth
ABOUT YOU

IDEAL EXPERIENCE & ATTRIBUTES
• Proven experience in senior operational leadership roles
• Strong understanding of both manufacturing operations and construction delivery
• Experience managing complex programmes and multidisciplinary teams
• Excellent knowledge of H&S across factory and construction settings
• Commercially aware with strong organisational and planning capability
• Client-facing with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Able to operate effectively within a growing entrepreneurial business
• Strong leadership presence with the ability to motivate and develop teams
