School Caretaker - Job Description

Job Purpose:
To maintain a safe, secure, clean, and well-functioning school environment for pupils, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:

• Open and lock school buildings and premises as required.

• Carry out basic maintenance, repairs, and inspections.

• Ensure the school grounds are clean, tidy, and safe.

• Monitor heating, lighting, and security systems.

• Set up rooms and equipment for school activities and events.

• Report and assist with health and safety issues.

• Liaise with contractors and support site security procedures.

Requirements:

• Good practical maintenance and repair skills.

• Ability to work independently and manage priorities.

• Knowledge of health and safety procedures.

• Reliable, trustworthy, and flexible approach to work.

• Previous caretaking, facilities, or maintenance experience desirable.
