Our client, a leading provider of facilities services in the UK, is seeking a qualified Plumber to deliver high-quality mechanical and building services maintenance within a large commercial environment.

Job Overview

This role is responsible for carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive repairs and statutory inspections across a wide range of plumbing and water systems. The position plays a key role in ensuring building services operate safely, efficiently and in full compliance with manufacturer requirements and regulatory standards.

The successful candidate will be a proactive and technically skilled professional who takes ownership of their work and consistently delivers a reliable, customer-focused service. Working both independently and alongside other engineers, the role supports day-to-day building operations while maintaining high standards of workmanship, safety and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out scheduled inspections, planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on plumbing systems and associated equipment.
  • Diagnose faults, dismantle systems, replace defective components and complete repairs to restore full operational performance.
  • Maintain and repair complex plumbing installations, including water and drainage systems, sprinklers, washers, steam cleaning equipment, compressors and hydraulic lifts.
  • Install, modify and repair plumbing systems, including pipework, valves, traps, unions, backflow prevention devices and water heaters, in line with relevant codes and manufacturer specifications.
  • Interpret drawings, plans and blueprints to plan system layouts, routing and installations accurately.
  • Carry out testing, calibration, leak detection and commissioning using appropriate test equipment.
  • Ensure full compliance with health & safety procedures, including risk assessments, method statements and company policies.
  • Accurately complete work orders, maintenance records and associated administrative documentation, including estimating materials and time requirements.

Person Specification

  • NVQ or City & Guilds Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications in Plumbing.
  • Proven experience working within a large commercial or facilities management environment.
  • Strong background in mechanical building services maintenance, including fault finding, installation, inspection and testing.
  • Experience delivering both reactive maintenance and planned preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Good understanding of water systems and associated plant.
  • Ability to work comfortably both independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary engineering team.
  • Experience working under strict health & safety procedures, including risk assessments and method statements.
  • A professional, reliable and customer-focused approach to work.
