Pre-Press and Large Format Printer Operator

We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established and highly respected print business that is looking to add a Pre-Press & Print Production Technician to its growing team.

This is a varied role that would suit a genuine all-rounder with experience across artwork, pre-press, and print production. Approximately 60% of the position will focus on artwork preparation, file checking, and pre-press activities, whilst the remaining 40% will involve supporting the wider production environment, including print, and finishing operations.

This is not a purely studio-based artwork role. We're looking for someone who understands how jobs move through the factory and enjoys being involved in the full production process, from initial artwork through to final finished product.

The Role

Working closely with the Print Room Manager and wider production team, you will be responsible for ensuring artwork is prepared accurately and efficiently for production, whilst also supporting operational activities within the print department.

Key responsibilities include:

• Preparing, checking, and optimising artwork files for print production
• Conducting pre-flight checks and resolving technical file issues
• Managing colour correction, calibration, and quality control processes
• Producing proofs for internal review and customer approval
• Creating impositions to maximise production efficiency and minimise waste
• Troubleshooting artwork and production-related issues
• Liaising with production and customer-facing teams to ensure smooth job delivery
• Supporting workflow improvements and automation initiatives
• Maintaining accurate job records and documentation
• Assisting with print production and finishing activities where required
• Developing knowledge across a range of print and finishing equipment
• Ensuring all work meets customer specifications, quality standards, and production deadlines

Skills & Experience

The successful candidate will have:

• Previous experience within a Pre-Press, Mac Operator, Reprographics, Artwork or Print Production role
• A strong understanding of print production workflows and file preparation
• Knowledge of colour management and print quality standards
• Experience using industry-standard artwork and pre-press software
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
• Strong problem-solving ability and a proactive approach
• The ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively

Most importantly, we're looking for someone with a solid understanding of the print manufacturing process from pre-press through to production and finishing. Experience within digital print, large format, graphics, signage, or commercial print environments would be highly advantageous.
