We are seeking a reliable, hands-on Production Operative to join a busy manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out production activities safely, efficiently, and in line with quality standards to meet operational requirements and customer specifications.

This role will mainly focus on working with PVB (Polyvinyl Butyral) and operating the HPR (High Pressure Reactor), while also remaining flexible and adaptable to support other production areas, including milling, dispersions, and emulsions, as required. A strong commitment to health, safety, environmental standards, and product quality is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and monitor the PVB production process in accordance with approved procedures and specifications.
  • Set up, operate, and monitor the HPR to ensure safe and efficient production.
  • Charge raw materials into vessels and reactors in line with batch instructions and process requirements.
  • Monitor process parameters such as temperature, pressure, and reaction times, making adjustments where authorised.
  • Carry out routine equipment checks and report any faults, defects, or process deviations.
  • Complete production documentation accurately and maintain records in line with quality standards.
  • Perform sampling and basic quality checks as required by production procedures.
  • Work flexibly across the manufacturing department and support other production areas, including milling, dropping out, dispersions, and emulsions, as needed.
  • Adhere to all health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements at all times.
  • Maintain good housekeeping throughout the working area.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve safety, quality, and operational efficiency.
  • Act as a professional and positive ambassador for the business.
  • Help ensure the department operates effectively, accurately, and fairly at all times.
  • Carry out any other reasonable duties to support the evolving needs of the business.

The Person:

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing, chemical processing, or production environment is desirable.
  • Experience operating process plant equipment, reactors, or similar manufacturing machinery is desirable.
  • Good understanding of safe working practices and health and safety procedures within an industrial environment.
  • Ability to follow standard operating procedures, batch instructions, and work instructions accurately.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing products that meet quality specifications.
  • Ability to monitor production processes and identify issues or deviations.
  • Good numeracy, literacy, and record-keeping skills, with the ability to complete documentation accurately.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team.
  • Ability to work independently and take responsibility for routine operational tasks.
  • Manual handling experience.
  • Computer literate.

Qualifications:

  • Counterbalance forklift truck licence desirable.
  • First Aid and/or Fire Warden trained, or willing to train.

Location: Halifax

Hours: Monday to Friday, 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

Contract: 12 weeks temporary to permanent

Salary: £14.51 (including 10% shift allowance)
