About the Opportunity

Our client is a highly respected engineering business specialising in the design, supply and support of industrial processing equipment. With a strong reputation for delivering innovative engineering solutions across the food processing sector, they are seeking an experienced and proactive Project Engineer to join their growing team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys managing projects from concept through to completion, working closely with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders to deliver high-quality technical solutions.

The Role

As a Project Engineer, you will play a key role in the design, development and delivery of engineering projects for customers within the milling and food processing industries. You will be responsible for creating plant layouts, specifying equipment, managing project documentation and supporting installations both in the UK and internationally.

The successful candidate will be comfortable working independently while also collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed equipment and plant designs using AutoCAD 2D and 3D.
  • Produce engineering drawings, layouts and technical documentation.
  • Work closely with sales and technical teams to translate customer requirements into practical engineering solutions.
  • Specify and select appropriate machinery and components for both turnkey projects and standalone installations.
  • Conduct site surveys and technical assessments at customer locations in the UK and overseas.
  • Coordinate suppliers and subcontractors to ensure timely delivery and compliance with project specifications.
  • Support installation and commissioning activities.
  • Monitor project costs, timelines and progress through established project control processes.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in products, processes and project delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant engineering, food safety and health & safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate project records and documentation.
  • Assist with technical proposals and customer presentations where required.

Candidate Requirements

Essential

  • Degree, HND or equivalent qualification in an Engineering discipline.
  • Previous experience in Project Engineering, Project Management or a similar engineering role.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of engineering standards, quality systems and health & safety requirements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD and project management software.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Willingness to travel within the UK and internationally when required.

Desirable

  • Experience within food processing, milling, material handling or process engineering environments.
  • Exposure to turnkey engineering projects and plant layout design.
