About the Role

Our client, a well-established builders merchant, is looking to recruit a friendly, motivated, and customer-focused Sales Assistant to join their branch team. This is a varied role involving both face-to-face customer service and telephone sales support.

The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering excellent customer service, assisting trade and retail customers and supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the branch.

Salary: Up to £33,000 DOE
Hours: Monday - Friday + Alternate Saturday mornings

Key Responsibilities
  • Greet and assist customers in branch in a professional and friendly manner
  • Handle customer enquiries and sales over the phone
  • Provide product advice and recommend suitable materials and solutions
  • Process sales orders, quotations, and payments accurately
  • Maintain strong product knowledge across building materials and supplies
  • Support stock control and merchandising within the branch
  • Assist with loading/unloading customer orders where required
  • Build positive relationships with new and existing customers
  • Work closely with colleagues to ensure excellent branch operations
Requirements
  • Previous experience in a customer service or sales role
  • Experience within a builders merchant or construction-related environment 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Confident dealing with customers both in person and over the phone
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
