Senior Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Senior Engineer to join a major infrastructure project in Redcar on a freelance basis. This is a key site-based role requiring strong technical expertise, leadership capability, and the ability to manage complex civil engineering works from planning through delivery.

The Role 

• The successful candidate will support the Project Manager and wider delivery team, ensuring works are executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with design, programme, budget, and quality requirements.
• Lead and coordinate day-to-day civil engineering activities on site.
• Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
• Develop and implement method statements, risk assessments, and temporary works requirements.
• Manage setting out, surveying, and quality assurance processes.
• Monitor progress against programme and identify solutions to mitigate delays.
• Ensure compliance with CDM regulations, health & safety standards, and environmental requirements.
• Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, consultants, and client representatives.
• Resolve technical issues and provide engineering guidance to site teams.

Experience / Qualifcations

• Degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Strong knowledge of UK construction standards, CDM regulations, and NEC/JCT contracts.
• Proficiency in setting out and engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GPS/Total Station systems).
• CSCS card (essential).
• SMSTS or SSSTS qualification (preferred).
• Temporary Works Coordinator or Supervisor certification (desirable).

Remuneration:

• £375.00 / £450 per day (dependent on experience)
