Senior Social Worker

Slough | Locum | £38+ per hour | Hybrid Working

Slough Borough Council is seeking an experienced Social Worker to join their Child Protection Team. This is a frontline safeguarding role focused on protecting vulnerable children, managing risk, and supporting families through effective statutory intervention and relationship-based practice.

You will work with children and families subject to Child Protection and Child in Need plans, ensuring timely assessments, robust planning, and positive outcomes for children and young people.

In this role, you will:

• Manage a caseload of Child Protection and Child in Need cases
• Undertake Section 17 and Section 47 assessments and enquiries
• Develop and review Child Protection and safeguarding plans
• Complete statutory visits and direct work with children and families
• Lead and participate in child protection conferences, core groups, and multi-agency meetings
• Progress cases through pre-proceedings and care proceedings where required
• Work closely with partner agencies including schools, health professionals, and the police
• Prepare high-quality assessments, reports, and court documentation
• Maintain accurate and timely case recordings

What You’ll Need:

• Social Work England Registration
• Social Work Qualification
• At least 3 years’ post-qualified experience in children’s social care
• Strong Child Protection and safeguarding experience
• Experience undertaking Section 17 and Section 47 investigations
• Court work and pre-proceedings experience desirable
• Confidence managing complex and high-risk cases
• Excellent assessment, analytical, and communication skills
