We are seeking an experienced Site Agent to lead day‑to‑day delivery on a major National Grid infrastructure project in London, involving complex civil engineering works, HV compound construction, cable route civils, and coordination with electrical installation teams. The role requires strong leadership, technical competence, and proven experience delivering works within a highly regulated, safety‑critical environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead site delivery of civil engineering works associated with National Grid assets, including substation civils, foundations, cable trenches, ducting, access roads, drainage, and structural elements.
- Manage daily site operations, ensuring work is delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with programme and quality requirements.
- Coordinate closely with National Grid representatives, electrical contractors, commissioning teams, and specialist subcontractors.
- Ensure compliance with National Grid TP137, CDM regulations, and all relevant safety and environmental standards.
- Oversee permits, RAMS, temporary works, ITPs, and quality documentation.
- Lead site briefings, toolbox talks, and daily coordination meetings.
- Monitor progress, manage resources, and report against programme and commercial targets.
- Maintain accurate site records, including diaries, as‑built information, and change documentation.
- Support the Project Manager with forecasting, procurement, and stakeholder communication.
- Drive a culture of safety, quality, and right‑first‑time delivery.
Experience & Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Site Agent or Project Engineer on National Grid, HV, utilities, or major civils projects.
- Strong understanding of substation civils, cable route construction, and working around live or restricted electrical environments.
- Knowledge of TP137, National Grid safety rules, and HV permit systems (AP/CP experience advantageous).
- Degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
- SMSTS, CSCS (Manager/Professional), First Aid.
- Temporary Works Coordinator (preferred).
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, particularly with client and statutory bodies.
- Ability to lead teams, manage subcontractors, and maintain high standards of safety and quality.
