We are now looking for a Temperate Rainforest Recovery Officer to join us on a full-time basis for a three year fixed-term contract.

The Role
As a Temperate Rainforest Recovery Officer, you will support the recovery and long-term management of Exmoor’s woodland landscapes, helping to deliver nature-rich, resilient woodlands.
You will assist in managing our woodland estate, supporting the development of long-term Woodland Plans, Plans of Operation and Environmental Land Management schemes.
Working across a range of woodland projects, you will help deliver temperate rainforest creation, woodland expansion, nature recovery initiatives and sustainable forestry activities, while supporting monitoring, surveys and contract management across the estate.
Additionally, you will:
- Assist with woodland monitoring, surveys and research projects
- Support species recovery, habitat management and tree nursery development projects
- Work with external partners to deliver woodland creation and nature recovery initiatives
- Support private landowners with woodland planning and sustainable forestry advice
- Contribute to the development of the Exmoor Woodland Futures platform
- Update woodland webpages and promote woodland projects through social media
- Assist with administration, reporting, research and Freedom of Information requests
About You
To be considered as a Temperate Rainforest Recovery Officer, you will need:
- Experience working within forestry, landscape conservation or countryside management
- Strong project management skills
- Experience of working with contractors
- The ability to analyse and evaluate data and technical information to inform decisions
- The ability to work confidently with maps, navigate to remote locations and use geospatial information
- Competency in the use of Microsoft and GIS
- Excellent written communication skills (e.g., report writing, specifications, legal documentation and enforcement reports)
- Tact, diplomacy and good negotiating skills
- Innovation, creativity and a collaborative approach to working
- A degree or equivalent experience in Forestry, Environmental Science, Countryside Management, Ecology or Landscape Design/Management
- A full, valid driving licence
