We’re currently recruiting for a Transport Planner to join a growing and well-established logistics operation based in Birchwood.

This is an excellent opportunity for somebody looking to join a busy, fast-moving transport team where you’ll play a key role in keeping deliveries running efficiently while working alongside an experienced and supportive leadership team.

This role would suit somebody with previous experience within general haulage, pallet network, transport planning or logistics coordination who enjoys a reactive operational environment and thrives on problem solving.

The Role
Working within the transport operation, you’ll be responsible for coordinating deliveries and collections, planning vehicle movements and ensuring customer requirements are met in the most efficient and cost-effective way possible.

You’ll work closely with drivers, customers and internal teams to ensure smooth day-to-day operations while responding quickly to changing priorities and operational challenges.

Key Responsibilities
  • Planning and coordinating daily transport activity across the UK
  • Allocating work to drivers and vehicles efficiently
  • Route planning to maximise efficiency and minimise operational costs
  • Scheduling deliveries and collections to meet customer expectations
  • Monitoring live operations and responding to delays or issues proactively
  • Managing driver hours and ensuring compliance with transport regulations
  • Liaising with drivers, customers and warehouse teams throughout the day
  • Updating transport management and tracking systems accurately
  • Supporting overall fleet utilisation and service performance
About You
We’re keen to speak with candidates who have previous experience within transport planning or logistics operations and are confident working within a fast-paced environment.

You’ll ideally have:
  • Previous transport planning or haulage experience
  • Strong geographical knowledge of UK roads and motorway networks
  • Good understanding of driver hours and transport compliance
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Experience using transport management systems and tracking software
  • Ability to multitask and make decisions under pressure
  • A proactive and solutions-focused approach
