Central Recruitment is working with a London-based charity dedicated to preventing homelessness and supporting individuals in rebuilding their lives.

Central Recruitment is currently recruiting for a Young Person's Worker to work in the Lewisham area at a service that provides housing support for young people aged 16+ who are owed a housing duty by the local authority.

  • 37.5 hours per week
  • working across Monday - Sunday (rota basis)
  • Shifts: early, mid and late
  • Temporary: approx. 1-2 months
  • £17.14 per hour (£15.29 per hour, with £1.85 holiday pay)

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage a caseload of young people, delivering regular keywork sessions and co-producing SMART support and safety plans
  • Complete high-quality risk assessments and risk management plans
  • Assess referrals with colleagues to ensure suitability for the service
  • Provide a safe, welcoming environment and support young people to settle into accommodation
  • Work with social workers and housing services to support family reunification or planned move-on options
  • Deliver activities that promote independence, wellbeing, and progression
  • Support access to employment, education, and training opportunities
  • Maximise benefit entitlement, collect rent and service charges, and minimise arrears and voids
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records on the Inform database and other recording systems

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience working with young people, including those with mental health, attachment, and complex emotional needs
  • Knowledge of Ofsted standards for supported accommodation and their practical application
  • Experience delivering trauma-informed and attachment-focused support, including risk assessment, support planning, and goal setting
  • Ability to support young people in developing life skills and engaging in meaningful activities
  • Experience working with at-risk young people in a residential or supported accommodation setting 
  • Understanding of the principles of Every Child Matters and their application in practice
  • Knowledge of welfare benefits, rents, and service charges for young people under 21
  • Strong numeracy and literacy

Further requirements:

In order to register with Central Recruitment Services for temporary agency work, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Current valid right to work in the UK
  • Minimum 12 months’ of paid experience in a front line social care role within the last 3 years* (unless recruitment criteria states otherwise)
  • A fully enhanced DBS either registered on the DBS update service or issued within the last 12 months, or willingness to apply for one through Central (at a cost of £60)
  • Employment or education history to cover the last 5 years which can be verified through the referencing process
