1:1 Year 2 Teaching Assistant - Hall Green

Aspire People are currently recruiting for a caring, committed, and experienced Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Hall Green. This is a full-time position starting in September 2026 and continuing until July 2027, providing dedicated 1:1 support for a child in Year 2 with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
The successful candidate will support a pupil with Skeletal Titin Gene Syndrome, a condition that impacts mobility. The child is academically working at age-related expectations and is fully engaged in classroom learning. The role will focus on ensuring the pupil can access all aspects of school life safely and independently, whilst providing physical support where required.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 2 pupil with physical needs.
* Support the child in accessing classroom learning and participating fully in school activities.
* Assist with mobility around the school site, including the use of a wheelchair and standing frame.
* Support the pupil with transitions throughout the school day, including moving between classrooms, interventions, and outdoor areas.
* Assist with toileting routines, including support getting to and from the toilet and on and off the toilet, whilst promoting dignity and independence.
* Work closely with the class teacher, SENDCO, parents, and external professionals to ensure the child's needs are met.
* Encourage independence, confidence, and participation in both academic and social activities.
* Monitor and report on the child's progress and wellbeing as required.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
* Previous experience supporting children with physical disabilities or mobility needs.
* Experience using or supporting pupils with mobility equipment such as wheelchairs, standing frames, or similar aids.
* Confidence providing intimate care and toileting support in a respectful and professional manner.
* A patient, nurturing, and proactive approach.
* Strong communication and teamwork skills.
* The ability to promote independence whilst providing appropriate levels of support.
* A genuine passion for supporting children to achieve their full potential.
* Manual handling training or experience supporting children with mobility needs.
* Experience working with pupils who have EHCPs.
* Knowledge of inclusive practices that enable children with physical disabilities to fully access learning and school life.
