How this works
For 2025/26 (rates frozen until April 2028):
- Personal allowance: £12,570 (tapered by £1 for every £2 earned over £100,000, fully removed at £125,140)
- Basic rate (20%): £12,571 – £50,270
- Higher rate (40%): £50,271 – £125,140
- Additional rate (45%): over £125,140
- Class 1 NIC (employee, age 21+): 8% on earnings between £12,570 and £50,270, 2% above £50,270
This calculator gives an indicative figure for England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Scottish income tax bands differ. Pension contributions, student loans, and other deductions are not included.
