Accounts Assistant

We’re looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Accounts Assistant to support our Financial Controller and wider business. This is a varied role covering purchase ledger, sales ledger, cash book management, and general accounting support, ideal for someone who enjoys being hands-on and making a real impact.
Key Responsibilities
Purchase Ledger
- Process purchase invoices daily in a paperless environment
- Match invoices to purchase orders
- Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies
- Manage outstanding creditor balances and payment schedules
- Liaise with suppliers and internal teams to resolve queries
Sales Ledger & Credit Control
- Manage the full sales ledger function
- Proactively chase outstanding payments and monitor aged debt
- Maintain accurate records and reconcile to the financial ledger
- Support the sales team with documentation for deliveries and shipments
Cash Book
- Post and allocate daily cash receipts and payments
- Maintain accurate cash books
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliations
Accounts & Reporting
- Support VAT processes (including Hungary and Spain)
- Assist with VAT returns, journals, and petty cash
- Prepare intercompany stock transfers
- Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end reporting
- Assist with audits and produce reports for management
What We’re Looking For
- Strong attention to detail and excellent administrative skills
- Confident communicator, able to engage with stakeholders at all levels
- Proactive and organised with a problem-solving mindset
- IT literate and comfortable working in a paperless environment
