Administration and Classroom Cover Assistant
Location: Duffield, Derbyshire DE56
Contract: Full-Time (37 hours); Term-Time including whole school closure days, plus five working days during the summer holiday period
Salary: £25,185 per annum pro-rata, actual salary for term-time only plus whole school closure days £21,897 per annum
We are seeking a proactive Administration and Classroom Cover Assistant to join our supportive and friendly support staff team.

About the Role
You will be a friendly point of contact for students, staff, and colleagues, supporting daily office and reception operations, maintaining student records, and handling communications with parents. You will track daily attendance, follow up on unexplained absences, and liaise with our pastoral teams. You will supervise pre-set work across a range of subjects (Key Stages 3 and 4), managing classroom behaviour in line with school policies.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Strong IT and data entry skills (Arbor, SIMS or similar MIS experience desirable).
- Excellent communication and diplomacy when speaking with families.
- A calm, authoritative presence in the classroom to ensure strong behaviour management.
- A flexible, positive attitude as you may be asked to move from one task to another at short notice.
- Basic literacy and numeracy (GCSE English and Maths at grade C/4 or above, or their equivalent) plus three other GCSEs or their equivalent, or substantial relevant experience).
- Experience of working with young people in a school setting, youth work, coaching, mentoring etc.
- The ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Understanding of safeguarding and confidentiality in a school setting.
