H&H Recruitment Solutions is delighted to be recruiting on behalf of our prestigious client for an experienced Air Import Operative to join their Heathrow-based operation.
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated import professional with a strong background in freight forwarding, customs procedures, and high-value cargo movements to become part of a respected and growing organisation.
The Role
As an Air Import Operative, you will be responsible for coordinating inbound air freight shipments, managing customs clearances, and ensuring the efficient delivery of high-value goods in accordance with customer instructions and regulatory requirements.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Plan and manage inbound air freight shipments according to customer requirements.
- Prepare and submit customs documentation, including import declarations and CITES documentation.
- Arrange import clearances and final deliveries of high-value goods.
- Communicate effectively with clients and internal departments, providing shipment updates and resolving any operational issues.
- Support other members of the import team to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
- Maintain and update shipping files and operational records.
- Liaise professionally with airlines and airport handling agents to meet operational requirements and maintain accurate shipment status information.
- Ensure all quality control procedures are adhered to and regularly updated.
- Maintain compliance with customs regulations and company procedures.
- Previous experience within air import freight forwarding or logistics is essential.
- Experience handling high-value goods is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of import procedures, including bonded warehousing, IPR, TIB, and other customs regimes.
- Excellent understanding of customs regulations and import documentation requirements.
- Knowledge of CDS customs systems is essential.
- Experience using AS400, SAP, and Microsoft Office is advantageous.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Positive, professional, and customer-focused attitude.
- Fluent English is essential.
- Italian and/or French language skills would be advantageous.
- Successful candidates will be subject to a full DBS check and must have no criminal convictions.
- Competitive starting salary of up to £37,000 per annum, depending on experience.
