Taylormade Employment are recruiting an Assistant Accountant for our client, who are a fast-growing investment and operating group of companies with interests across renewable energy, commercial solar, recruitment, and related ventures.
We are seeking an ambitious Assistant Accountant to support the financial management of multiple group companies. This role offers excellent exposure to a dynamic business environment spanning both the renewable energy and recruitment sectors.
The Role
Reporting to the Finance Director and senior management team, the Assistant Accountant will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end reporting, and assisting with the day-to-day finance operations across the group.
This is an ideal opportunity for an AAT-qualified or part-qualified ACCA/CIMA candidate looking to develop within a growing organisation.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Accounting
- Prepare and maintain accurate accounting records across multiple group entities.
- Assist with month-end and year-end processes.
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and balance sheet accounts.
- Prepare and post journals, accruals, and prepayments.
- Support preparation of management accounts and board reporting packs.
- Assist with statutory accounts and external audit requirements.
Accounts Payable & Receivable
- Process supplier invoices and payment runs.
- Manage customer invoicing and credit control activities.
- Resolve supplier and customer account queries.
- Monitor aged debtors and support cash collection activities.
Payroll & Compliance
- Assist with payroll preparation and submissions.
- Support VAT returns and HMRC reporting requirements.
- Ensure compliance with financial controls and company procedures.
Commercial & Operational Support
- Produce financial analysis and performance reports.
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities.
- Support project costing and profitability analysis for the solar division.
- Support commission calculations and contractor payment reconciliations within the recruitment division.
- Work closely with operational teams to improve financial processes and reporting.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- AAT qualified or studying towards ACCA, CIMA or equivalent.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a finance or accounting role.
- Strong Excel skills including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and financial reporting.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities across different businesses.
Desirable
Experience using QuickBooks, or similar accounting software.
Experience in recruitment, construction, energy, or project-based businesses.
Understanding of VAT and CIS regulations.
Experience working within a group structure or multi-company environment.
