Long Term Futures are working in partnership with a multi-Trust Academy in Chesterfield (S41) to appoint an experienced and passionate Assistant Headteacher to lead on Inclusion, SEND, and Behaviour Culture across the academy. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious senior leader to join a specialist setting committed to supporting pupils with additional needs, barriers to learning, and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The successful candidate will play a key strategic role in driving inclusive practice, strengthening behaviour systems, and ensuring outstanding outcomes for vulnerable learners across multiple academy sites.
The Role:
- Lead on all aspects of inclusion and SEND provision across the academy, including the role of SENDCo
- Develop and embed a positive behaviour culture that supports engagement, attendance, and pupil wellbeing
- Work strategically with senior leaders to improve outcomes for pupils with additional and complex needs
- Support staff development through coaching, mentoring, and promoting inclusive classroom practice
- Oversee EHCP processes, annual reviews, interventions, and external agency collaboration
- Monitor pupil progress, behaviour, attendance, and safeguarding to ensure effective support systems are in place
- Build strong relationships with families, external professionals, and multi-agency teams
- Contribute to whole-school improvement planning and the wider leadership of the academy
We Are Looking For:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and National Award for SEN Coordination (or willingness to achieve)
- Previous successful leadership experience within a specialist, alternative provision, or inclusive setting
- Strong knowledge of SEND, SEMH, behaviour strategies, and safeguarding practices
- Proven ability to lead whole-school initiatives and drive improvement outcomes
- Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills
- A resilient, compassionate, and solution-focused leadership approach
- Commitment to inclusive education and improving opportunities for vulnerable young people
- Full driving licence and willingness to travel between academy sites if required
