We are currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established and growing construction business in Maidstone for an ambitious Assistant Quantity Surveyor. Our client delivers high-quality construction and refurbishment projects across a range of sectors, including commercial, education, healthcare and high-end residential. This role offers the opportunity to gain exposure to a varied portfolio of projects while working alongside experienced commercial and project teams.
Working closely with experienced Quantity Surveyors and project teams, the successful candidate will assist with the commercial management of projects from inception through to final account, helping to ensure financial efficiency and project success.
Key Responsibilities
• Assist with the preparation of cost estimates, budgets and tender submissions.
• Support the measurement and valuation of works on site.
• Help prepare and process subcontractor enquiries, orders and payments.
• Monitor project costs and assist with cost reporting.
• Assist in the preparation of interim valuations and final accounts.
• Review supplier and subcontractor invoices against contractual agreements.
• Maintain accurate project records and commercial documentation.
• Support the management of variations, change orders and contractual correspondence.
• Liaise with clients, subcontractors, suppliers and internal project teams.
• Contribute to ensuring projects are delivered within budget and commercial targets are achieved.
Requirements
• Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or a related discipline.
• Previous experience in a Quantity Surveying or Assistant Quantity Surveying role is advantageous.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills.
• Good understanding of construction processes and commercial practices.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
• Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and manage multiple priorities.
• Full UK driving licence is preferred.
