Our client, Ringway Jacobs, a leading provider of integrated highways management, is seeking and Assistant Sub-Agent to join their team in Chelmsford.
Reporting to the Sub-Agent, Agent or Senior Agent you will assist in delivering schemes from inception to completion as part of an annual programme of works within the construction team in the following work streams; Inlay Surfacing, Surface Treatments, Vehicle Restraint Systems (VRS), Local Highways Panel (LHP) Schemes, Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) Schemes, S106 Schemes, Surface Water Alleviation Schemes (SWAS) and Footway Schemes.
The Role
- Ensuring all projects comply with health, safety and environmental legislation, RJ processes and policies, CDM requirements and quality management.
- Assisting with the delivery of several schemes utilising internal staff, shareholder resources, external consultants and contractors as required.
- Directing site supervision including the issue of permits to work and carry out site inductions when required.
- Administration and checking of risk assessments, method statements, progress report writing, stage reviews and updating of scheme process documents in accordance with the principles and timescales defined in the contract.
- Assisting with the management of schemes from initial design through delivery to completion and may require operating as NEC PM and/or NEC Supervisor as required on appropriately sized schemes.
- Liaising with internal and external stakeholders to obtain approval for diversion routes, working on or close to network rail assets and working on or beneath structures.
- Supporting with buildability reviews with the design team and liaise with them throughout the project to help resolve programme, budget, technical and design queries and manage risk.
About You
• 4 GCSE’s or equivalent at or above grade (C) or (4) (including Maths & English) essential.
• BTEC Level 2 or 3 Diploma in Construction and the Built Environment or equivalent desirable.
• Completion of an apprenticeship in the construction industry, preferably Highways desirable.
• CSCS, NRSWA, and SMSTS card holder desirable.
• Membership of a professional body desirable.
• Experience working in the construction industry, preferably highways desirable.
• Experience undertaking construction work in the vicinity of underground services desirable.
• Experience in the supervision or use of traffic management desirable.
• Intermediate Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project and Outlook).
• Current, Full driving licence essential.
