Associate/Associate Director (Architecture)

Conrad Consulting Ltd

Are you an experienced Architect ready to step into a role with greater influence, autonomy, and strategic impact? Conrad Consulting is recruiting on behalf of a highly respected, design‑driven architectural practice in Chester — a studio recognised as one of the region’s leading Architectural & Design specialists.

This opportunity is ideal for an established Associate or an ambitious Senior Architect seeking progression into a more senior leadership position. You’ll join a practice with a strong reputation, a diverse project portfolio, and a culture that genuinely values design quality, technical excellence, and collaborative leadership.

Your role & impact

As part of the senior leadership team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping project outcomes, strengthening client relationships, and contributing to the ongoing development of the practice. You’ll oversee multiple projects across the Residential, Education, Retail and Leisure sectors — both locally across Cheshire and nationally — ensuring design integrity, technical robustness, and smooth delivery across all RIBA stages.

You will also act as a mentor and role model within the studio, supporting the growth of emerging talent and helping to drive best practice in design, delivery, and digital workflows (AutoCAD & Revit).

What we’re looking for
  • ARB/RIBA Chartered Architect with substantial post‑qualification experience

  • Proven experience leading projects from concept through delivery, ideally across multiple sectors

  • Strong understanding of Planning, Building Regulations, and project compliance

  • Confident client‑facing communicator with the ability to build long‑term relationships

  • Experience managing teams, mentoring staff, and contributing to practice‑wide standards

  • Proficiency in Revit preferred (training can be supported for the right candidate)

  • A strategic mindset, strong organisational skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities

  • A proactive, detail‑driven approach with the confidence to influence design and delivery decisions

Salary & progression

The salary for this Associate‑level role is £50,000-£60,000, depending on experience and seniority. For the right candidate, there is clear scope to progress further within the leadership structure.

You’ll be joining a contemporary, fast‑growing practice that offers genuine opportunities to shape your role, expand your responsibilities, and contribute to the long‑term direction of the studio. Flexi‑time options are available for permanent employees.

Location

The Chester studio is easily commutable from Cheshire, North Wales, and surrounding areas, with excellent public transport links.
