We are recruiting for our prestigious client based in Rainham, Essex.

This is an exciting new role, which has been created through company growth & expansion. The ideal candidate will be mentored to become a Production Manager within the facility. It would ideally suit someone from a manufacturing background, but this is not essential, as attitude, aptitude, and willingness to learn count for more!

Purpose

To undertake a structured development programme to gain full operational competence across all production departments, with the objective of progressing into a Production Management role.

The role includes responsibility for Health & Safety coordination and requires the postholder to provide competent electrical cover for the Engineering Manager (electrical duties only) during periods of absence, ensuring safe and compliant operation of plant and equipment.

The role reports to the Director of Operations and the Managing Director.

THE CONTEXT

The Company is the sole manufacturer of its branded product; this necessitates a highly flexible and talented team to manage the production and health of the assets used to produce the product.

KEY ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Health and Safety                

Respects all site safety rules including those applicable for the safe engagement of contractors and visitors.

Does not start a task or stops on-going tasks if the employee feels that the situation is unsafe. When possible, the employee takes the necessary actions to make the task safe.

Reads and complies with the risk assessment for the task.

Noise. Mandatory hearing protection is required in the area as when the tipping machines are running as the noise level is above 85dB. Areas which require this protection are clearly signposted.

Use all equipment and materials in accordance with Health & Safety guidelines.

General Responsibilities

Training & Operational Development

Participate in a structured departmental rotation programme (approximately 3 months per department)

Develop a comprehensive understanding of all production processes, including both traditional/manual systems and modern automated equipment.

Support the day-to-day management of production operations to meet output, quality, and efficiency targets.

Support the department supervisors with day-to-day people management.

Production & Operational Support

Assist in planning and coordinating production activities.

Monitor performance against KPIs and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Liaise with production, engineering, and other departments to ensure effective communication and workflow.

Health & Safety

Act as Health & Safety Coordinator for the site.

Ensure compliance with all relevant Health & Safety legislation and internal policies.

Conduct risk assessments, audits, and incident investigations as required.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date Health & Safety records and documentation.

Electrical Responsibility

Provide electrical support and oversight in the absence of the Engineering Manager

Administration & Compliance

Maintain accurate production, maintenance, and compliance records.

Complete reports, documentation, and internal communications in a timely manner

Support audits and ensure documentation is maintained to required standards.

TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT

Structured cross-departmental training programme

Formal management development training

Ongoing coaching and mentoring from senior management.

GENERAL CONDITIONS

Your normal minimum hours of work are 40 hours per week.

     8:00 - 16:30 (two breaks of 15 mins plus 30 minutes lunch break)

It may be required from time to time for the individual to perform other duties or job roles as dictated by business needs.

PERSONAL SPECIFICATION

Essential Criteria:-

Electrical qualification to Level 3 (or equivalent)

Demonstrable ability to undertake electrical responsibilities safely and competently.

Strong administrative and organisational skills

Good understanding of Health & Safety requirements within a manufacturing environment

Effective communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to work across a mixed-technology environment (legacy and modern equipment)

Desirable Criteria

Experience within a production or manufacturing environment.

Health & Safety qualification (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH)

Previous supervisory or leadership experience

Experience with injection moulding
