A warm and inclusive primary school in Pontypool are looking for a dedicated autism Teaching Assistant to work closely with a wonderful Year 3 pupil who thrives with consistency, patience, and calm encouragement. This is a highly rewarding 1:1 role where relationship-building is everything. You'll be joining a school that genuinely values its support staff - you won't just be "an extra pair of hands".

What the role involves:

  • Providing 1:1 support for a primary-aged pupil with autism
  • Helping to create a calm, structured and predictable learning environment
  • Supporting communication, emotional regulation and social interaction
  • Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to follow tailored support plans
  • Encouraging independence in learning and daily routines

What we're looking for:

  • Experience working with children with autism or additional learning needs (school, care or similar settings)
  • A calm, patient and consistent approach
  • Ability to build trust and strong relationships with a pupil over time
  • Good communication skills and willingness to work as part of a team
  • A genuine passion for supporting children to reach their potential
