Our client is looking for a Branch Manager for their MEP Wholesale business based in Trafford Park.
The posiition
To lead and develop the Manchester branch, delivering profitable sales growth, exceptional customer service and operational excellence. The Branch Manager will have full responsibility for branch performance, including sales, profitability, stock management, team leadership, business development and customer relationships.
The role requires a commercially driven individual with strong plumbing, heating and M&E merchant experience who can grow market share across Greater Manchester whilst maintaining high service levels and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
Branch Performance & P&L
Full responsibility for branch profit and loss performance.
Deliver branch turnover, gross margin and net profit targets.
Produce and manage annual budgets and monthly forecasts.
Monitor sales, margins, stockholding and operating costs.
Identify opportunities to improve profitability and efficiency.
Review branch KPIs and implement improvement plans.
Business Development
Develop and execute a branch growth strategy.
Generate new business from M&E contractors, plumbers, developers, housing associations and facilities management companies.
Build relationships with key decision makers including procurement managers, estimators and project managers.
Grow existing accounts through cross-selling and increased market penetration.
Lead local networking and customer engagement activities.
Work closely with suppliers to create joint sales opportunities.
Team Leadership
Recruit, train and develop branch employees.
Set clear objectives and performance standards.
Conduct regular one-to-ones and performance reviews.
Foster a high-performance culture focused on sales, service and accountability.
Ensure appropriate staffing levels to meet customer demand.
Stock & Operations
Manage stock profile and stockholding levels.
Ensure stock accuracy through regular cycle counts.
Control stock losses and minimise aged inventory.
Maintain supplier relationships and purchasing disciplines.
Ensure branch facilities, vehicles and equipment are maintained.
Essential Skills & Experience
Proven experience within a plumbing, heating or M&E merchant.
Previous branch management, depot management or senior sales management experience.
Strong knowledge of plumbing and heating products.
Demonstrable track record of delivering profitable sales growth.
Experience managing budgets and P&L responsibility.
Strong people management and leadership skills.
Excellent negotiation and customer relationship skills.
Commercially aware and target driven.
Full UK Driving Licence.
