The Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity to join a leading Tier 1 contractor experiencing continued growth across civils, utilities, energy, and infrastructure sectors. Due to expanding project pipelines and increased bidding activity, the business is looking to strengthen its Business Development capability with a dedicated Researcher & Analyst.
Working as part of the Business Development and Pre-Construction team, you will play a pivotal role in identifying new opportunities, analysing market and competitor intelligence, and supporting bid teams to develop winning strategies. This role offers exposure to high-profile, multi-million-pound projects and the chance to influence key business decisions.

Your duties and responsibilities will be
  • Identify and track upcoming project opportunities across civils, utilities, energy, and infrastructure sectors
  • Develop and maintain a strong pipeline aligned to business strategy
  • Monitor frameworks, government investment plans, and market developments
  • Analyse sector trends, regional investment patterns, and growth opportunities
  • Support bid teams with research, data insights, and win strategy development
  • Prepare pre-qualification and tender research packs
  • Provide detailed client intelligence, including priorities and procurement strategies
  • Conduct competitor analysis and benchmarking
  • Analyse historical bid data to improve future performance
  • Maintain CRM systems, opportunity trackers, and BD databases
  • Produce pipeline reports, market insights, and performance analysis
  • Collaborate with BD, bid, and operational teams to align opportunities with capability
  • Support stakeholder engagement through targeted research and insights


You will have the following qualifications & experience:
  • Proven experience in a business development, research, intelligence, or analytical role
  • Demonstrable experience supporting bid, tender, or pre-construction teams with high-quality research and insights
  • Strong understanding of infrastructure sectors such as civils, utilities, energy, or major projects
  • Ability to identify, track, and analyse project opportunities and pipelines aligned to business strategy
  • Experience producing clear, concise, and insightful reports to support decision-making and bid strategies
  • Strong analytical and data interpretation skills, with the ability to translate complex information into actionable insights

It’s great if you also have the following
  • Experience in business development, research, or analysis within construction, infrastructure, or engineering sectors
  • Understanding of Tier 1 contracting environments (civils, utilities, energy, infrastructure)
  • Experience supporting bid or tender processes
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to turn data into actionable insight
  • Experience using CRM systems (e.g. Salesforce, Deltek, or similar)
  • Knowledge of UK procurement frameworks and public/private sector clients
  • Familiarity with market intelligence tools and reporting systems
  • Degree in Business, Engineering, Economics, or a related discipline

The setting for the role
You will be based within a dynamic Business Development and Pre-Construction team, working closely with bid managers, senior leadership, and operational teams. The role may be based in either London or Swindon, with a blend of office and flexible working.
This is a fast-paced, collaborative environment where your insights will directly support strategic decision-making and contribute to securing major infrastructure projects across the UK.
