We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Buyer to join our procurement team. The successful candidate will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing goods and services essential to our operations. This role requires a strong understanding of supply chain management, logistics, and ERP systems, ensuring the timely and cost-effective procurement of materials. The Buyer will play a vital part in maintaining optimal inventory levels while fostering positive relationships with suppliers. Experience with SAP, JD Edwards, Oracle EBS, or AS400 is highly desirable to facilitate seamless integration within our existing systems.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the end-to-end procurement process, including sourcing, negotiation, and purchasing of goods and services.
  • Analyse inventory levels and forecast future requirements to ensure continuous supply chain flow.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to secure favourable terms and reliable delivery schedules.
  • Utilise ERP systems such as SAP, SAP ERP, JD Edwards, Oracle EBS, or AS400 to process purchase orders and track procurement activities.
  • Collaborate with logistics teams to coordinate delivery schedules and optimise supply chain efficiency.
  • Conduct market research to identify new suppliers and alternative sources for critical materials.
  • Monitor supplier performance and address any issues related to quality, delivery times, or costs.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procurement regulations throughout all purchasing activities.

Experience

  • Proven experience as a Buyer or in a similar procurement role within a manufacturing or retail environment.
  • Strong knowledge of ERP systems including SAP, SAP ERP, JD Edwards, Oracle EBS, or AS400 is essential.
  • Demonstrable negotiation skills with a track record of securing favourable terms with suppliers.
  • Familiarity with logistics, supply chain management, and merchandising principles.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Experience working within a fast-paced environment where attention to detail is paramount.
