An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Buyer to join a successful manufacturing business. The main purpose of the role is to take responsibility for the cost-effective procurement and delivery of quality goods and services to meet operational requirements.

This role would suit someone with experience in purchasing, a strong understanding of metal products, and proven negotiation skills.

What you’ll be doing

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the purchasing function effectively, ensuring robust systems are in place to purchase the right products and services at the right time, achieving the best value and service from suppliers.
  • Analysing purchasing data, preparing reports, and presenting insights to managers to improve purchasing performance.
  • Supporting the maintenance of ISO 9001 accreditation, particularly ensuring material test certification processes remain robust and reliable.
  • Conducting supplier assessments to drive improvement and ensure compliance with quality processes.
  • Managing and negotiating with key suppliers and subcontractors, developing strong relationships to maintain a reliable, cost-effective, high-quality supply base.
  • Reviewing supply chain processes and internal procedures to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Identifying and sourcing new suppliers to enhance capability and provide alternative sourcing options.
  • Maintaining purchasing processes and procedures across the site.
  • Managing and maintaining stock levels of standard raw materials.
  • Carrying out any other reasonable duties as required.

What you’ll need to succeed

Need to know

  • Knowledge of non ferrous metals
  • Experience maintaining effective stock control systems.
  • Experience operating within a computerised MRP system.
  • Understanding of quality standards such as ISO 9001.
  • Competence using Microsoft Office software.

Need to have

  • Proven experience working in purchasing
  • Proven negotiation skills.
  • Strong mathematical ability.
  • Good IT skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience working with data.
  • Commercial awareness.

What’s on offer?

  • £40,000 to £50,000 per annum (Competitive salary)
  • Working Hours: 8am – 5pm (Monday to Thursday) & 8am – 1pm (Friday)
