Our established client is looking for an experienced 33kv Jointer to support the delivery of utility‑scale solar, BESS, ICP works and ground‑mount projects throughout the Midlands and South Yorkshire

Role Overview

The 33kV Cable Jointer is responsible for delivering all high voltage jointing, terminations, testing, and commissioning activities across large scale ground mount solar farm projects (typically 20MW–300MW). This role ensures safe, compliant, and high quality installation of HV infrastructure, connecting inverters, transformers, and substations to the wider 33kV distribution network.

The position requires strong technical competence in HV jointing up to 33kV, experience working under DNO/IDNO standards, and the ability to operate within a fast paced construction environment alongside EPC, ICP, civil, and electrical teams.

Key Responsibilities

--33kV Jointing & Terminations--

Carry out 33kV cable jointing, terminations, straight joints, branch joints, and sealing ends.

Install and terminate XLPE, PILC, and waveform cables in accordance with DNO/IDNO specifications.

Complete HV terminations at transformers, RMUs, switchgear, and inverter stations.

HV Infrastructure Installation

Support installation of HV substations, 33/11kV transformers, and RMU units.

Work with EPC/ICP teams to integrate HV assets into the solar farm’s electrical design.

Ensure correct installation of earthing systems, earth mats, and bonding.

--Trenching, Ducting & Cable Routing--

Oversee trenching, ducting, and cable laying activities for HV routes across large solar sites.

Verify correct depth, bedding, spacing, and marker tape placement.

Supervise pulling and laying of large format cables (e.g., 185mm²–630mm², up to 33kV).

--Testing, Inspection & Commissioning--

• Perform HV testing including:
  • Pressure testing
  • Insulation resistance
  • Phasing checks
  • Sheath testing
• Support energisation and commissioning with DNO/IDNO engineers.
• Produce accurate test sheets, red line drawings, and as built documentation.

-- Compliance, Safety & Quality--

Work under permit to work, LOTO, and HV switching procedures.

Ensure compliance with ENA TS, DNO standards, G99/G100, and BS 7671.

Maintain high standards of workmanship, safety, and environmental control.

Required Experience

Proven experience as a 33kV Cable Jointer on DNO/IDNO networks.

Background in utility scale solar, renewables, ICP works, or power distribution.

Strong understanding of HV/LV distribution systems, transformers, and switchgear.

Experience working on large construction sites with multiple contractors.

Qualifications & Certifications

DNO/IDNO authorised 33kV Jointer (UKPN, WPD, ENWL, SPEN, SSEN, etc.)

EUSR or equivalent HV Jointing certification

CSCS/ECS card (Gold/Black preferred)

33kV Recommendation or Competency Course

G99/G100 awareness

Full UK driving licence
