CAD/CAM Programmer – 5 Axis CNC Milling | Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced 5-Axis CNC Programmer with a strong background in precision machining to take on a key role in offline programming, process optimisation and production support.
The successful candidate will be responsible for programming complex components using CAD/CAM software such as Hypermill, Powermill or similar, while also supporting machine setting, prove-outs and machining improvements on the shop floor.
CAD/CAM Programmer – 5 Axis CNC Milling Key Responsibilities
- Offline programming of complex 5-axis CNC components using CAD/CAM software such as Hypermill, Powermill or similar
- Creating efficient machining strategies for precision components used within aerospace, defence, motorsport and high-performance engineering sectors
- Reading and interpreting complex engineering drawings and 3D models
- Selecting tooling, feeds and speeds to optimise machining performance and cycle times
- Supporting machine setting and first-off prove-outs
- Working closely with machinists and engineering teams to resolve production and machining challenges
- Contributing towards continuous improvement and process optimisation initiatives
- Supporting production across low-volume, high-complexity work
Requirements
- Proven experience as a 5-Axis CNC Programmer within a precision engineering environment
- Strong offline CAD/CAM programming experience using Hypermill, Powermill or similar software
- Excellent understanding of precision machining principles, tooling and materials
- Ability to set and prove out complex CNC programs on the machine
- Experience working within sectors such as aerospace, defence, motorsport or Formula 1 is highly advantageous
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work to tight tolerances
- Effective communication skills and a team-oriented approach
