We are working with a highly respected packaging manufacturer looking to strengthen their Technical Design team with the appointment of a technically strong and commercially aware Technical Designer.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a business where design genuinely influences production performance, customer satisfaction and innovation across multiple manufacturing sites.
The Role
Working closely with Design, Repro and Production teams, you’ll play a key role in ensuring packaging concepts are technically fit for manufacture whilst maintaining exceptional quality and efficiency standards.
This is a highly collaborative position where you’ll be involved in everything from technical artwork profiles and tooling checks through to production layouts, VAVE projects and customer-facing support.
Key Responsibilities
- Creating Technical Design profiles for production including Braille, Emboss, Foil and Varnishes
- Supporting the Repro team from first stage artwork through to production
- Carrying out technical pre-flight checks on tooling requests
- Liaising with tooling manufacturers and suppliers
- Creating efficient production layouts across multiple manufacturing sites
- Supporting VAVE and continuous improvement projects
- Advising Structural Design teams on best manufacturing formats
- Ensuring all customer artwork conforms to technical specifications and “best in class” standards
- Supporting transition projects and new ways of working
What We’re Looking For
- Experience within carton packaging, print, repro or packaging manufacturing
- Strong Technical Design or Structural Design background
- Excellent working knowledge of Esko Artios CAD
- Understanding of packaging production processes and tooling
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Positive, proactive and collaborative approach
