CAD/Technical Designer

Salary:                         up to £40,000
Hours of work:             Monday – Friday office hours
 

Are you an experienced Technical Designer with a background in carton packaging, repro or structural design?

We are working with a highly respected packaging manufacturer looking to strengthen their Technical Design team with the appointment of a technically strong and commercially aware Technical Designer.

The Role

Working closely with Design, Repro and Production teams, you’ll play a key role in ensuring packaging concepts are technically fit for manufacture whilst maintaining exceptional quality and efficiency standards.

This is a highly collaborative position where you’ll be involved in everything from technical artwork profiles and tooling checks through to production layouts, VAVE projects and customer-facing support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Creating Technical Design profiles for production including Braille, Emboss, Foil and Varnishes
  • Supporting the Repro team from first stage artwork through to production
  • Carrying out technical pre-flight checks on tooling requests
  • Liaising with tooling manufacturers and suppliers
  • Creating efficient production layouts across multiple manufacturing sites
  • Supporting VAVE and continuous improvement projects
  • Advising Structural Design teams on best manufacturing formats
  • Ensuring all customer artwork conforms to technical specifications and “best in class” standards
  • Supporting transition projects and new ways of working

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience within carton packaging, print, repro or packaging manufacturing
  • Strong Technical Design or Structural Design background
  • Excellent working knowledge of Esko Artios CAD
  • Understanding of packaging production processes and tooling
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Positive, proactive and collaborative approach
