Hours: Full Time, Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm
About the RoleAn excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced and reliable Caretaker to join a busy Housing Services team in East London on an ongoing contract basis.
This role is ideal for a proactive individual with a strong commitment to maintaining safe, clean, and welcoming environments for residents and visitors. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring communal areas and estates are maintained to a high standard while providing excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out regular inspections of communal areas, estates, and buildings.
- Ensure communal areas are kept clean, safe, and free from hazards.
- Undertake minor repairs and maintenance tasks where appropriate.
- Report repairs, defects, health and safety concerns, and anti-social behaviour issues.
- Monitor and maintain estate facilities, equipment, and communal services.
- Manage refuse and recycling areas, ensuring cleanliness and compliance with organisational standards.
- Liaise with residents, contractors, and colleagues professionally and effectively.
- Conduct health and safety checks and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
- Assist with access arrangements for contractors and service providers when required.
- Previous experience working as a Caretaker, Estate Caretaker, Facilities Assistant, or in a similar role.
- Good understanding of health and safety procedures within residential or public sector environments.
- Ability to carry out basic maintenance and repair tasks.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage workloads effectively.
- Reliable, flexible, and committed to delivering high standards of service.
