Full-Time (45 hours per week)

We’re looking for an experienced Civils Chargehand to join a growing team based in Bodmin, Cornwall. This is a temporary full-time role with a strong opportunity to go permanent for the right candidate.

The Role

• Lead and supervise a small team (up to 6 operatives)
• Deliver high-quality civils work including kerbing, drainage, and hand-laying tarmac
• Organise plant, materials, and day-to-day site activities
• Carry out daily briefings and maintain accurate site records
• Ensure compliance with RAMS and safe working practices
• Read and interpret utility drawings and construction plans

What We’re Looking For

• Proven experience in a Civils Chargehand or similar role
• Strong leadership and people management skills
• Competent across a range of manual civils duties
• Ability to read drawings and use CAT & Genny equipment
• Confident problem-solver with a “can-do” attitude
• Comfortable dealing with the public on-site

Essential

• Valid CSCS Card
• NRSWA Operative
• Full UK Driving Licence (LGV desirable)
• Ability to securely park a 3.5t vehicle at home

Desirable

• SSSTS
• Experience operating small plant (dumpers, mini excavators, roller)
