Our client is a leading global engineering and environmental consultancy currently experiencing significant growth across its UK water and environmental business. Following the award of a major new framework alongside an already strong pipeline of work with several major UK water authorities, they are looking for talented Civil Engineers to join their Flood Risk and Sustainable Water team in Bristol.

This is an exciting opportunity to work on a broad range of high-profile flood risk, water management, and infrastructure projects that contribute directly to climate resilience, environmental improvement, and sustainable development across the UK.

Purpose & Scope of the Role

As a Civil Engineer within the Flood Risk and Sustainable Water Engineering team, you will support the delivery of a diverse portfolio of infrastructure, environmental, and development projects across the UK water sector.

Working on projects ranging from local flood alleviation schemes through to major infrastructure programmes, you will contribute to the development of flood risk solutions, hydraulic modelling, drainage strategies, river engineering, SuDS, and nature-based solutions.

You will work collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams, supporting project delivery from initial feasibility and optioneering through to detailed design, construction support, and project close-out. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to framework growth, client engagement, and innovation initiatives within the wider business.

Your Impact in this Role

You will play an important role in delivering sustainable and technically robust flood risk and water management solutions that support resilient communities, critical infrastructure, and environmental improvement.

Your technical contribution will help clients respond to increasing climate challenges, regulatory requirements, and long-term asset resilience objectives, while your collaborative approach will strengthen project delivery and team capability.

Key responsibilities

• Support the delivery of flood risk, drainage, and water engineering projects across a variety of sectors.
• Contribute to hydraulic modelling, hydrology assessments, flood risk assessments, and drainage strategies.
• Assist in the design of river engineering, SuDS, and natural flood management solutions.
• Prepare technical reports, design calculations, drawings, and project documentation.
• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams including environmental, civil, geotechnical, and infrastructure specialists.
• Participate in client meetings, stakeholder engagement, and project coordination activities.
• Support project management activities including programme, quality, and budget control.
• Contribute to bids, framework opportunities, and business development initiatives where appropriate.
• Mentor and support junior team members as part of a collaborative team environment.


Skills, Qualifications & Experience

• Degree qualified in Civil Engineering, Water Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Experience within a consultancy or engineering environment delivering UK-based flood risk or water projects.
• Working towards or holding professional chartership with ICE or CIWEM is desirable.
• Experience working with UK water authorities, local authorities, or Environment Agency frameworks would be beneficial.
• Full UK driving licence preferred.
• Eligibility for UK security clearance would be advantageous.


Working Environment

This role is based within our clients Bristol office, although flexibility may be available for other regional offices or hybrid working arrangements.
