CNC Machinist

Elevation Recruitment Group is working in partnership with a leading business in the high-precision forging industry to recruit a CNC Machinist for its established team in Derbyshire. This opportunity would suit an experienced CNC Machinist with a background in either milling or turning and a strong understanding of machining large, high-precision components.

Location: Derbyshire
Role: CNC Machinist
Pay: £48,185 inclusive of shift allowance, with further progression opportunities available.

Shift Pattern:
Week 1: Wednesday, Thursday and Friday – Days
Week 2: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday – Nights
Week 3: Monday and Tuesday – Days / Thursday and Friday – Nights (6 hours on Friday night, with the option to work an additional 6 hours at time and a half)
The pattern then returns to Week 1.
Average of 42 hours per week, with unlimited overtime paid at time and a half.

Job Overview
Working within the machining, forging and tooling team, you will produce components from detailed drawings using both manual and CNC machines. The role supports the commercial and aerospace sectors, so a high level of accuracy and attention to detail is essential.

Responsibilities

• Tool setting and operating of 4- and 5-axis milling and turning machines
• Editing using Fanuc controls
• First-line daily maintenance and 5S
• First-line inspection
• Operating powered cranes and lifting equipment
• Producing high-precision medium to large components
• Working in a small-batch machining environment, typically 6–12 pieces

Skills & Experience

• Must be a strong CNC Machinist with extensive knowledge of machining large components
• Must have worked within a high-precision industry
• Competent in the use of inspection equipment
• Continuous improvement experience
• Prepared to get involved in process improvement activities
• A flexible approach to working hours and willingness to travel if required for training purposes
