Must Haves:
βοΈ CNC Milling and/or Turning experience including lathe work and live tooling experience (heavy machining advantageous)
βοΈ Fanuc and/or Haas control experience (or experience with other controls with transferable programming skills)
βοΈ Ability to work to tight tolerances
βοΈ Experience in low volume, high precision work
βοΈ Strong attention to detail
βοΈ Ideally experience in programming (strong editing and modifying may be considered)
βοΈ Ability to work independently and as part of a small close-knit team
β° Hours:
β° Flexible day shifts (3-person CNC team)
β° Working hours designed to support home/work balance
β° Overtime available as required
π The Opportunity
We are working with a specialist engineering business in Morley, Leeds, operating within the water power industry. The company is looking to appoint a CNC Machinist / Programmer to join a small, skilled team of 3 engineers.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work on low volume, high precision, heavy CNC milling and turning work, including lathe machining with live tooling capability, using Fanuc and Haas controls. However, the business is also open to experienced programmers from other control systems who can demonstrate strong transferable skills and the ability to adapt quickly to Fanuc-based programming.
The company is very open to developing the right person, including operators or programmers looking to progress further technically or transition across control systems.
π§ Key Responsibilities
Programming, setting and operating CNC milling and turning machines
Working with Fanuc and Haas controls
Producing high-precision, low-volume components
Machining heavy engineering components for specialist applications
Including lathe work with live tooling operations where required
Reading and interpreting technical engineering drawings
Carrying out in-process inspection and quality control
Supporting continuous improvement and workshop efficiency
Maintaining high standards of workmanship and safety
π What Weβre Looking For
A confident CNC Machinist with strong engineering background
Experience in Fanuc and/or Haas, or other CNC controls with transferable programming ability
Strong background in milling and turning, including lathe and live tooling experience
Ideally heavy engineering exposure
A proactive, reliable and quality-focused approach
Willingness to learn and develop programming skills further
Team player who fits well into a small workshop environment
