CNC Miller – Mazak 5 Axis

Location: Newcastle upon Tyne, Tyne & Wear
Pay Rate: £18.77 – £24.35 per hour (DOE)
Shifts: Attractive premium available for unsociable hours

Jackson Hogg is supporting a well‑established, high‑precision manufacturing business in Newcastle upon Tyne with the appointment of an experienced CNC Miller to strengthen their machining capability.

This role suits a time‑served CNC Machinist with strong hands‑on experience operating Mazak 5 Axis machines, working on complex, high‑value components where quality and traceability are critical.

The Role

As CNC Miller, you’ll be responsible for producing components to tight tolerances, supporting program prove‑out, and ensuring machining schedules are met without compromising quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Complete machining operations to drawing and specification within agreed timescales
  • Support Engineering during program prove‑out and development
  • Work methodically while maintaining high quality standards
  • Follow quality procedures and highlight any quality or production issues
  • Maintain full product traceability
  • Prepare, set and load materials on machines
  • Maximise machine utilisation and minimise downtime
  • Run multiple machines when required
  • Mentor apprentices and colleagues when requested
  • Comply with all health, safety and site requirements

About You

  • Time‑served CNC Machinist (recognised mechanical engineering apprenticeship)
  • Strong experience operating Mazak 5 Axis machining centres
  • Confident reading and interpreting engineering drawings
  • Strong understanding of geometric tolerancing
  • Proven ability to machine to tight tolerances
  • Comfortable handling and lifting large or heavy components
  • Experience machining large fabrications is highly desirable
