CNC Production Engineer

Location: Portsmouth
Salary: £45K - £55K
Hours: Monday to Friday, full-time

A well-established precision engineering business producing high-quality, high-precision components within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

The Role

We are recruiting for a CNC Production Engineer to support engineering, programming and production. You will develop efficient manufacturing processes and optimise CNC machining for high-precision components.

  • Program 3 to 5 axis CNC machines using CAD CAM (NCG, Hypermill, EdgeCAM)
  • Create and optimise toolpaths
  • Improve machining processes using Design for Manufacture principles
  • Set standard parameters including tooling, feeds and speeds
  • Maintain CAM tool databases
  • Support production teams and troubleshoot issues on the shop floor
  • Produce work instructions and routing documentation
  • Carry out process capability studies and improvements
  • Support new product introduction from concept to production
  • Liaise with design teams to ensure manufacturability
  • Monitor tooling costs and support cost improvements
  • Drive continuous improvement and quality initiatives

About You

  • Experience in a high-precision CNC manufacturing environment
  • Experience programming Heidenhain control machines
  • Strong CAD CAM experience (NCG, Hypermill or similar)
  • Understanding of GD&T, machining processes and cutting tools
  • Knowledge of quality tools and lean principles
  • Engineering qualification or equivalent experience
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Additional

  • Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with ERP or MRP systems
  • Understanding of 5S standards
  • Strong communication skills
