Key Responsibilities of a CNC Sliding Head Machinist:

Setting and operating Star CNC sliding head machines to produce precision engineered components to tight tolerances.
Working as a CNC Sliding Head Machinist with materials including stainless steel, aluminium, brass and plastics.
Reading and interpreting engineering drawings to ensure accurate manufacture of components.
Editing programmes and making offset adjustments using Fanuc controls on Star sliding head machinery.
Carrying out first off inspection and in process quality checks using micrometers, verniers and gauges.
Ensuring Star sliding head machines are maintained correctly, tooling is replaced when required and downtime is minimised.
Working to production schedules while maintaining high quality and accuracy standards.
Adhering to all health and safety procedures within the manufacturing environment.

Key Skills of a CNC Sliding Head Machinist:

• Proven experience as a CNC Sliding Head Machinist setting and operating Star sliding head machines.
• Strong understanding of Fanuc controls and programme editing.
• Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings.
• Experience producing precision components to tight tolerances within a fast paced engineering environment.
• Competent using a wide range of measuring and inspection equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high quality work.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Flexible approach to shifts and overtime where required.
