Our client are a very well established reputable main contractor delivering high-quality construction projects across Retail and Industrial sectors.
Due to continued growth, we are looking for a motivated and organised Commercial Assistant to support our Quantity Surveying team and contribute to the successful financial management of our projects.
The Role
Working closely with an experienced Quantity Surveyor, you will provide commercial and administrative support across multiple construction projects, based in Bedford.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop a long-term career in commercial management and quantity surveying within the construction industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting with subcontractor procurement and administration
- Preparing and processing subcontract orders and payments
- Supporting the preparation of valuations and cost reports
- Maintaining accurate commercial records and filing systems
- Assisting with measurement and take-offs
- Managing invoices and tracking project costs
- Liaising with site teams, suppliers, and subcontractors
- Supporting the QS with client variations and final accounts
- Tracking prelims on a spreadsheet
- General commercial and administrative duties as required
- Reporting in to the head of department
- Must have Previous experience in a commercial assistant, accounts, administration, or construction support role
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Good attention to detail and numerical ability
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office
- Ability to work well within a team and manage multiple tasks
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Construction industry experience is required
