Commercial Gas & Plumbing Engineer duties
  • Carrying out reactive maintenance and fault finding
  • Completing plumbing and gas repairs across commercial sites
  • Delivering planned preventative maintenance (PPM)
  • Installing pipework, TMVs, water heaters, and plumbing systems
  • Commissioning and testing commercial heating and hot water systems
  • Completing servicing, inspections, and compliance checks
  • Attending breakdowns and emergency call-outs
  • Supporting mechanical refurbishment projects
  • Updating records using mobile and tablet systems
  • Working safely within school and public sector environments
  • Supporting wider compliance and remedial works alongside mechanical and electrical teams
Commercial Gas & Plumbing Engineer requirements
  • NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Plumbing or Mechanical Engineering
  • Commercial and Domestic Gas qualifications including:
    • CCN1
    • CENWAT
    • CODNCCO1
    • CDGA1
    • CIGA1
  • Unvented Hot Water qualification (G3)
  • Minimum two years’ experience within a similar role
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Experience carrying out fault finding and remedial works
  • Good communication and client-facing skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • IT competent using handheld or tablet systems
Desirable experience
  • Experience working within schools or public buildings
  • Electrical safety awareness
  • IPAF or PASMA
  • OFTEC
  • Experience working on oil-fired systems
  • Air source or AC knowledge
Working hours and overtime
  • Full-time role working 40 hours per week
  • Expected on site from 8:00am daily
  • Earlier starts may be required depending on client requirements
  • Time and a half after 6:00pm Monday to Friday
  • Time and a half on Saturdays until 12:00pm
  • Double time after 12:00pm on Saturdays and all day Sunday
  • Weekend and out-of-hours call-outs paid door-to-door
